New Bullitt build :: the Bullitt 821

So I was thinking it was time for an update on the Bullitt 821 then started going through the archives, only to realize we've never made a single post about the newest member to the family. I know we've shared a handful of photos to social but I was sure there was at least an intro post here. Well, without further ado, allow me to introduce you all formally to the Bullitt 821.

For Sale :: Ducati 860 Cafe Racer by Bryan Heidt

We all dream of building our very own proper custom yet many of us don't possess the skills, resources and budget to see a true custom to life. It really takes a combination of all the above, along with hours upon hours of blood, sweat and more blood to pull of many of the finished products we see more and more frequently these days. If you can't do it yourself, you can always commission one from your favorite builder, assuming he has the time and you have the budget. Every now and then, one of those builds you drooled over on BikeEXIF might actually go up for sale. Well, today is one of those days.

'Candylegs the third' CB750 racer

While racing technology and styling often trickles down into on-road vehicles, there's no substitute for the real thing. Race bikes will always be cooler than street bikes. Fact. With race bikes, function (almost) always prevails, and everything down to the safety wire becomes its own form of sexy - if you're into that sort of thing.

Harley Sportster Cafe Racer by Get Lowered Cycles

We haven't featured too many Harleys here on The Bullitt but a few quick favorites come to mind; Icon1000's Iron Lung, Deus Ex Machina's American, or Noise Cycle's '52 Panhead. We figured it'd been long enough since we featured one, so when the guys at Get Lowered Cycles submitted their cafe'd Sportster to us, we were happy to share.

Ducati Hyper Scrambler by Untitled Motorcycles

If you haven't seen the Hyper Scrambler by now...you must have seen it by now, right? Even if you don't regularly read "moto stuff", this bike has appeared on some pretty mainstream stages like Jay Leno's Garage, Playboy, Designboom and GQ Italia to name a few.

Ducati Pandora by Young Guns Speed Shop

We've been starting at the Monster 821 in our garage lately and keep coming back to Young Gun Speed Shop's Ducati Pandora for inspiration. Utilizing the most amped up version in the Monster family - the Monster 1200 R - as their base, the Swiss-based Young Guns built what they are calling a
hybrid between a GP-bike and a contemporary café racer.

Moto Guzzi cafe racers by Holographic Hammer

We've been big fans of Sylvain Berneron, better known under the guise of Holographic Hammer, for years. Over the years, we've shared some of his Ducati and Triumph cafe racer illustrations. Lately, we've been toying around with doing a Guzzi build and low and behold, Holographic Hammer has been teasing us with some killer mock ups.

Cafe Racer Dream's CRD#61 BMW R 100 RS Cafe Racer

Madrid-based Cafe Racer Dreams definitely likes their BMW builds, but this particular one happens to be special; this one is actually the personal ride of CRD Founder and CEO, Pedro Garcia. In typical CRD fashion, the 1977 BMW R 100 RS better know as CRD#61 or #thebikeoflove, has been stripped down its bare essentials.

Modern Dustbin MV Agusta Racer 'Ballistic Trident' by Rough Crafts

Custom builder Winston Yeh of Rough Crafts has been making waves with his unique and often brutally-styled builds. His latest build, and possibly most visually striking, dubbed the ‘Ballistic Trident’ definitely has the Rough Crafts flair we’ve come to expect.

KTM Street tracker by Engineered to Slide

We've been following the evolution of Nigel Petrie's 2008 KTM 250 EXC-F for years now. Petrie, an Ozzie auto drifter and two wheel enthusiast, has taken this bike from an enduro, to Supermoto, to cafe racer, and now to the pretty slick little tracker you see here today.

Ducati 860 Cafe Racer by Bryan Heidt

Bryan Heidt is no stranger to the custom world - he's metal fabricator with a background in Industrial Design - and works with Bryan Fuller at Fuller Hot Rods. His beautiful custom 1975 Ducati 860 square case named Cavallo Nero (Italian for 'dark horse') was actually Fuller's bike but with no immediate plans for it and a barrage of impending projects coming in, the bike sat in the shop taunting Heidt. When Bryan shared his story with us, it became abundantly clear that a lot of blood, sweat and late nights went into this build and he certainly had a lot to say about the work he put in. In cases like that, why not let the builder himself tell you the story as it is?

Moto Guzzi V9 X-Track Scrambler

Moto Guzzi had a handsome display at this year’s recent EICMA show in Milan. There, the manufacturer from Mandello del Lario was debuting a new V7 III model, in a handful of variations like their V7 III ‘Anniversario’ or their new V7 III Racer, a cafe racer inspired variation now equipped with Öhlins rear suspension. I’m definitely a fan of the V7 range and naturally assumed that would be my favorite bike announced by Guzzi, however there was a different model that stole my heart. To the right of their main stage, there was a group of customized Guzzis hanging out, and there happened to be one particular V9 that was given a scrambler treatment that I just couldn’t stop starting at it. Currently, the “X-Track” is just a concept at this point, but all I could think about was that I had to build one!

The Race of Gentlemen :: David Carlo Photography

For lovers of vintage motorcycles, vintage cars, and the old-school machismo that comes with the territory, The Race of Gentlemen, or simply “TROG”, is an absolute gold mind. As you could see from our recent post by Erik Juntas, style and authenticity in this event is preserved to the utmost detail. With period correctness being mandatory in all elements of participant's machines and gear, impressive images aren’t too hard to come by. We’ve seen plenty of great images from the recent event in Pismo Beach, California but when we saw the striking shot above by David Carlo of TROG participant Josh Kohn, we knew we needed to see more!

Supermoto dreaming :: Jan R's KTM 450 EXC

We could stop drooling when we stumbled across Jan R's KTM 450 EXC Supermotard online. This thing looks hot, and it looks like trouble! Wishing we could get our hands on it and take it down to SoCal Supermoto to do some hooning. Anyone else in?

Custom Triumph Bonneville by Perfekt Speed Shop

Dario Callegher, owner of a Miami-based Perfekt Speed Shop, recently sent us photos of his latest creation; a rather striking Triumph Bonneville turned custom Scrambler. Starting it's life as a 2005 Bonnie, Callegher stripped it down, and transformed it based on a friend's direction, who was inspired by the “Bonneville Heuer" a TAG Heuer Special Edition Bonneville from 2009.

The Race of Gentlemen :: Pismo Beach, CA

You might look at this photo set and think what you're seeing is some old 'beach racing' shots from the 1940's and 50's, but you'd be wrong. What you see here was recently shot, by photographer Erik Jutras, taken in Pismo Beach, CA at The Race of Gentlemen (aka TROG). The Race of Gentlemen is hosted by the Oiler's Car Club and has increased in popularity since it's inaugural run in 2012 with this year being the first year to see a west coast event. TROG is an invitational event and they are very strict about everything being "period correct", and it shows.

Three Martini Lunch :: Custom Triumph Thruxton by Icon 1000

We've been big fans of Icon 1000's custom builds, and featured their similar but different Iron Lung build in the past, but their latest custom Thruxton really has us drooling. Maybe we have a soft spot for Triumphs, maybe it's the way they were able march to the beat of their own drum with this one... Whatever it is, we like it.

Ducati 900SS Cafe Racer by CC Racing Garage

I had the pleasure of seeing this little stunner in person recently in Misano at WDW2016; Ducati's World Ducati Week gathering that happens every other year. The bike was super clean in person and was clearly liked by more than just me, as it won the Ducati Garage Contest, a contest where everyone at WDW could vote on their favorite custom on display.

Harley and the Davidsons - 3-part miniseries

Regardless of whether or not you're a 'Harley fan', if you're a fan of motorcycling in general, you should have some appreciation for the history of our two-wheeled sport. Discovery Channel has been promoting a new series that looks pretty awesome if you ask us!

RSD Desmo Tracker

The RSD Tracker has been one of our favorite builds to ever roll out of the Roland Sands Design garage in Los Alamitos, CA. Built back in 2011, it doesn't feel like it's aged a day. There's so much about this bike to be appreciated, but first and foremost, the fact that Roland and crew tackled a bike that was already beautiful and the definitely of high-performance, and transformed it to something completely different without somehow bastardizing its original incarnation.

1967 Ducati 350 Widecase by Adam McCarty

http://thebullitt.blogspot.com/2016/07/1967-ducati-350-widecase.html

While most custom builders seek to find balance in their work, stripping a bike down to its bare necessities and still achieving a 'fullness' within that simplicity, is easier said than done. If we were asked to offer you an example of a build that accomplishes exactly that (simple, yet lacking nothing), we would look no further than Adam McCarty's 1967 Ducati 350.

10% Increase in Motorcyclist Deaths Expected for 2015

http://thebullitt.blogspot.com/2016/07/increase-in-motorcycle-deaths-2015.html

The Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) has recently published their preliminary findings for motorcyclist fatalities and the news isn’t good: The GHSA expects a 10% increase to a total of 4,837 motorcyclist deaths in 2015. This follows two years of declining fatalities throughout the nation, which makes the 2015 increase nearly 450 additional deaths over previous years.

Custom Monster 1200S Siluro (2016) By XTR

http://thebullitt.blogspot.com/2016/07/custom-monster-1200s-siluro-2016-by-xtr.html

It's no secret that we're fans of Radical Ducati and were bummed when they closed their doors in 2014. After a little hiatus, Pepo Rosell has re-branded himself as XTR Pepo and has been churning our more than just radical Ducatis. While these days he may dabble with other manufacturer's bikes, rest assured his love for Ducati remains fully in tact, as seen by his latest creation, the Siluro (2016) seen here.

Custom Triumph Street Triple by Josh Rhodes

http://thebullitt.blogspot.com/2016/06/custom-triumph-street-triple-by-josh.html

Friend of The Bullitt, Josh Rhodes, shared some photos with us of his recently completed Triumph Street Triple, and we dig it! Josh got into custom building a few years back and has been turning out some really cool projects lately. He often is working on his projects for his friends - he's done everything from funky little scooters, vintage dirt bikes to CB restorations - but this one is a personal project.

Ducati Scrambler Racer by Heath 'The Chief' Cofran

Heath has been a friend of The Bullitt for a long time now. He's a great guy, has a passion for virtually all things motorcycling, and the dude can ride...fast. I've been on all sorts of rides in all sorts of terrain with him; long street rides, big group rides, trail rides, track days, moto camping trips, and he's always pushing to go fast. It's just in his nature.

1968 Norton 'Misty Green' by Fuller Moto

http://thebullitt.blogspot.com/2016/05/1968-norton-misty-green-by-fuller-moto.html

Bryan Fuller is a master builder, designer, TV personality and author best known for his work on cars. Starting his career, Fuller did a two-year apprenticeship with So-Cal Speed Shop and then worked under renowned artist, designer and fabricator, Chip Foose. Two legit places to get your feet wet! In the past few years Fuller has turned a focus towards two wheels - he still works on cars too - and has been churning out some amazing machines like the 1968 Norton cafe racer you see here.

'Super Hooligan' Flat Track Races :: Austin, TX

http://thebullitt.blogspot.com/2016/05/super-hooligan-flat-track-races-austin.html

The year the Super Hooligan races in Austin, TX added additional excitement to an already adrenaline-packed weekend. Set up across the street from Revival Cycle's Handbuilt Motorcycle Show which also happens to be during MotoGP weekend, there is never a more moto-hungry crowd in ATX. The streets and bars are jam-packed with race fans, custom builders and hooligans throughout the weekend and the Super Hooligan brings the action right into downtown Austin.

The Handbuilt Show 2016

http://thebullitt.blogspot.com/2016/04/the-handbuilt-show-2016.html

This year’s Handbuillt Show was definitely one for the record books. The crew at Revival Cycles pulled it off again with their 3rd annual show. As expected, over 100 bikes ranging from beautiful restorations, choppers, trackers, cafes, scramblers and full customs. On the lawn beside the show, the Wall of Death crew was doing shows on the hour. If you didn’t make it this year, it should be on your must see for next year.

7½ Sportiva by Radical Ducati

It's safe to say that Radical Ducati is, well, was a favorite builder around the Bullitt garage and I have to say I was shocked to find out that we had never featured the 7 ½ Sportiva by the Spanish garage. I went to look it up on the blog here to show to a buddy and couldn't believe we hadn't featured it. Sure, we shared a picture of it when Radical Ducati closed their doors but this one is deserves its own feature.

How to ride...Bitches

http://thebullitt.blogspot.com/2016/04/how-to-ride-bitches-video.html

Last year, we shared the video explanation of How to Ride Bitch, which was a complete guide to male-on-male riding. Now take a look at the image above and ask yourself, "How do you ride...Bitches?" Odds are, we're in for a girl-on-girl motorcycling treat, but I guess we'll just have to watch the video below to find out!

New Bullitt build :: To hack or not to hack?

So, I've wanted a Ducati SportClassic for years...well, since they first came out in 2006. The OG Bullitt is gone, as is the Bullitt SP. A little extra room in the garage and a little extra funds in the moto account and boom, a new GT1000 is sitting at my front door. I bought it across the country and had a reliable friend and mechanic give it his blessing before I pulled the trigger. It wasn't until it got here, that I realized just how clean and unmolested it was.

Mike Hailwood Limited-Edition Ducati Scrambler

Ducati Thailand has put our a number of handsome customs to date and they're at it again, this time with a pretty cool, and very limited-edition Mike Hailwood-inspired Ducati Scrambler. This exclusive Ducati Scrambler Special Edition Mike Hailwood is inspired by the Ducati 900SS that Mike Hailwood rode to victory during his legendary Isle of Man comeback in 1978, eleven years after his retirement from motorcycle racing.

Triumph desert-sled doomsday concepts by Ziggy Moto

If the zombie apocalypse does in fact come, you're gonna need the right bike. If you already have the Survival Bike by Motoped, or want something faster, Ziggy Moto has come up with some pretty slick mock ups using that we feel might do the trick. These things somehow look lean and mean, yet beefy and tough at the same time.

Triumph Speed Triple Cafe Racer Concept by Jakusa Design

Triumph's Speed Triple has been one of the long standing naked thats paved the way for many a streetfighter to come. Many absolutely love this machine but one rather objective aspect of the bike has always been its dual headlights.  With most people it's love or hate, and I typically side with the latter. Personally, I just never fell for them, but maybe that's just me...

Earle Motors's Hyper Hooligans

http://thebullitt.blogspot.com/2016/03/earle-motorss-hyper-hooligans.html

The Suited Racer

http://thebullitt.blogspot.com/2016/02/the-suited-racer.html

When we came across Lando Griffin, aka The Suited Racer, we were sold instantly. There's a good chance that sexy Ducati Sport Classic 1000S pictured here may have had some initial influence, but upon deeper inspection, we were even more impressed. The Suited Racer theme is pretty straightforward; Griffin reviews a bike and a suit each bi-weekly, "for your daily mental breaks".

Snap-On Front LED Turn Signals by New Rage Cycles

Have a mild hatred for bulky blinkers, we're constantly on the lookout for minimalist solutions. New Rage Cycles offers a pretty discreet kit, with their Snap-On Front LED Turn Signals. They're CNC machined from polycarbonate and, you guessed it, snap directly onto a range of fork tubes sizes for a pretty low-pro look. Not being fully satisfied there, we opted to murder them out for an more inconspicuous look.
